Overview
If you have sterling silver necklaces, you've got gorgeous bling that needs proper care. Because sterling silver is so soft, it will scratch and dent easily if you don't handle it gently. The silver strands can also tangle easily if you don't store your silver necklaces carefully. Keep your silver strands safe and beautiful by storing them right, and your pretty bling will always be ready to wear.
1.
Fasten the clasps of your necklaces to keep them from tangling.
2.
Place one necklace into each bag.
3.
Zip the bags closed, squeezing them gently to remove as much air as possible. The air will cause your silver to tarnish.
4.
Store the bags flat in a drawer or container. Whenever you want to wear a necklace, grab the bag and slip it on. Put the necklace back into the bag to store it again. You'll avoid scratches, tangling or damage.
You could also store your necklaces on plastic pegs as long as the pegs have spaces between them to prevent tangling. This won't prevent tarnish the same way plastic bags will, though.
Don't store silver necklaces so they rub against each other.
Don't store silver necklaces on wood hooks -- acids in the wood can mar the silver.
