It's universal -- anyone who's ever been on a dreaded first date knows the spazzy way your brain feels, the racing heart rate, and the sweaty palms. Uncomfortable as it is, if you never have a first date you might miss that opportunity to find the perfect soul mate. Although you can't nix the sweaty palms completely, do what you can to keep your hands dry and concentrate on having a blast and connecting with your date.
1.
Wash your hands right before you go to bed the night before your hot date. Using a standard hand soap is fine.
2.
Dry your hands well with a hand towel.
3.
Slather on a light coat of unscented antiperspirant over the palms of your hands. Let the antiperspirant dry completely before you hit the sheets.
4.
Minimize hand washing as much as you can the next day. You don't want to wash away the effects of the antiperspirant.
5.
Steer clear of caffeinated drinks the day of your date. Caffeine only revs you up more and this can contribute to sweaty palms.
6.
Slip a cotton hankie into a pocket or your purse before you go out. If you feel your palms sweating, dab them with the hankie.
7.
Stay focused on your date and you may find you calm down and perspire less. If you can relax, take deep breaths and focus on enjoying yourself, your hands may stay drier.
8.
If all else fails, make a joke about it. Your date is probably nervous too and getting your sweaty palm problem out in the open may put you both at ease.
