Your stylin' new black jeans are crisp and dark -- just the way you like them. The black denim wants to fade on you, though, and become a drab gray instead. Keep your black jeans black by washing them carefully with the right products. With only a little effort, your black jeans can stay black, glammed and gorgeous for every outfit combination.

1.

Fill the dishpan with one part white vinegar and one part cool water. Swirl the mixture around well, and add your black jeans. Leave the jeans in this mixture for about eight hours to help set the black color and minimize that annoying fading.

2.

Take your jeans out of the dishpan, and rinse them by hand with cold water.

3.

Turn your jeans inside out, and wash them in the gentle cycle of the washing machine with cool water. Add a small amount of gentle laundry detergent to the washer, and let it go through the entire cycle.

4.

Air-dry your jeans instead of using the dryer to slow down the fading process.

Tips & Tricks

Always wash your jeans inside out to minimize fading and keep the black denim dark.

Wash your jeans as little as possible to keep the fading to a minimum.

Don't wash your jeans with towels and other items that create lint and rub the denim fabric. This will minimize fading.

Some fading is unavoidable. If it's going to break your heart when your jeans fade, buy something else.
