Sometimes those slightly chilly nights can be the trickiest of all. Brave the weather in a simple T-shirt and freeze? Look ridiculous in a way-too-much-warmth peacoat but feel better? Enter the blazer. This perfect little number will save you, time and time again, when the weather is doing that funny in-between thing. When you put on a plain black blazer over your regular old jeans, dress your outfit up with jewelry to take it to the next level.
Beaded Necklace
Looking sweet on a casual night out is no easy feat if you want to stay comfy, too, but a blazer and jeans is a good start. Add a beaded necklace for a touch that is unique, eye-catching and feminine. Depending on your necklace, the beads can be the perfect way to add some color to an otherwise bland color palette and you can use them to tie in your shoes. Choose flats or sandals that pick up on one or more of the shades from the beads for a finish that's coordinated and cute. The larger and brighter your necklace, the more it will stand out, so choose a big one to be a centerpiece or a small one to simply complement your outfit. Any statement necklace will work wonders.
Chain Necklace
For a touch of flair that is anything but sweet, go for a rocker-chic necklace with lots of chains. This funky style is sure to please the anti-girly-girls, but even a true lady can appreciate the cool look of multiple metallic strands on one necklace. Create your own by heading to an art supply store and mixing and matching the chains it has. Combine wider, bigger looks with more delicate ones for an outcome that is trendy and chic. Pair it with metallic shoes and bag and keep the rest of your jewelry to a minimum.
Simple Yet Sweet
A black blazer with jeans does not necessarily equal a totally boring outfit. If your shirt is loudly patterned or interestingly designed, you might not want to choose jewelry that stands out so much. A layered, ruffled Bohemian blouse can be the focal point of your outfit, as can a prettily patterned tank top or tee. If your shirt is already gathering all the attention, no need to be your own competition! Choose simple, pretty jewelry that completes your look without fighting for the spotlight. A small, sweet pendant with pearl earrings or a few thin bangles are all you need to be dressed to the nines and ready to hit the road.
Big Earrings
The beauty about being a woman (besides under-eye concealer and hair spray) is that if you're not feeling one style, there are probably plenty of other options, and jewelry is no exception. If you're not a necklace fan, you can have fun branching out in the earring department. Choose big, bright hoops or loud, dangling earrings to play up your plain outfit and accessorize with style. Just remember to stick with one focal point per outfit, so if your earrings are big, keep the necklace small and vice versa.
