Who said sneakers had to look sloppy? Ditch your regular trainers, and pick up a pair of Converse Chuck Taylors. This classic shoe has been the ultimate in rock 'n' roll cool since the '80s and has graced the feet of celebs from Kurt Cobain, who wore it casually with jeans, to Kristen Stewart, who dressed it up on the red carpet. If you're looking for something comfortable and cute to wear out with your favorite pair of jeans, Chuck Taylors come in multiple styles so you're bound to find something that will match your favorite pair.
Low-Top Sneakers
Chuck Taylors come in two different heights: low top or high top. Low-top Chucks are the most versatile. Classic black low tops go hand in hand with cuffed skinny jeans, and when paired with an oversized burnout T-shirt, it's an edgy but casual summer outfit that works for both day and night. For a more laid-back look, you can pair your low tops with denim shorts or floor grazing flair jeans.
High-Top Sneakers
High-top Chuck Taylors are a little bit harder to wear. You can mask them beneath flairs, but why would you want to mask their main feature? Instead of hiding the high top, pair your favorite kicks with skin-tight black jeggings. This goes especially well with brighter Chucks such as red, yellow or pink. Finish this look with a casual punk rock T-shirt and a comfy cardigan for a casual but cute daytime outfit.
Patterned Jeans
If you've got jeans in a wild print -- think acid wash, leopard print or maybe even floral print -- there really aren't a lot of shoe options. You can wear basic flats, but if you want to avoid ultra feminine shoes and don't want to dress up your look with high heels, Chuck Taylors offer you a basic shoe that will match even the most bizarre pallet. Choose a low or high top in black, navy or brown and it will match nearly any kind of wild jeans you have.
What to Avoid
Even though Chuck Taylors go with almost any kind of jean, the dressier the jean, the less Chucks will work. If you've got a thin, wide-leg denim pant with luxe detailing such as silver buttons or a sailor style closure, any sneaker would be out of place. It's best to stick with heels if you're wearing widelegs. If you decide to wear flaired jeans, length is important to consider. If your jeans are too long, you'll be tripping over the flair. Since Chucks are flatter sneakers, you need a jean that only skims the floor when you're standing barefoot.
