Putting together a flattering outfit for a full figure may seem like a challenge, but big, beautiful curves don't have to be hard to dress. The right cut, color and fit are essential to keeping eyes where you want them. Careful jean selection will also ensure that you feel comfortable, fabulous and fierce in what you wear.

An ill-fitting waistband can spell disaster for fuller figures. Aim for a comfortable waistband that falls across your stomach instead of below it. If your waistband is too low, you can face the dreaded muffin top. Mid-rise works best for most full-figured women. Look for jeans with about 8 inches from the crotch to the waistband. Wider bands often provide the extra support needed to flatten the mid-section. A touch of elastic may make the waist more comfortable.

Back Pockets

The size and position of your back pockets will determine how your backside is perceived. Aim for pockets that are close together, drawing the eyes to the middle rather than outward to your thighs. Avoid showy, embellished pockets that will make it difficult for people to draw their eyes away from your butt. Look for jeans that have a contoured seam in the back; this will provide you with enough extra fabric to completely cover your butt. Less is more -- you don't want anything hanging out over the top of your jeans.

Skinny jeans may be popular on the runway, but this isn't the best cut for a full, voluptuous figure. Opt instead for a flattering boot cut or straight-leg jean. You want enough contour to keep the jeans from hanging straight down off your widest part, but not so much that your jeans look like a second skin.

Dark washes are the most flattering option for full figures. This color naturally slims and looks crisp and pulled-together for any setting. Steer clear of mid-thigh embellishments and whisker washes that will just draw a lot of attention to that part of your pants. An even, medium to dark blue is best. If you have trouble finding the perfect fit, these colors will also ensure that the lucky pairs you do find can be used day or night for any event.
