Iron out the wrinkles from your chiffon garments without ever picking up your iron. Chiffon can be made from natural and synthetic fibers. Depending on the type of chiffon your garment is made of, you may be able to wash and dry it at home, or you may need to take it to the dry cleaners. Either way, if you pull your favorite party dress or shirt out of your closet and notice a few unsightly wrinkles, there are several way to smooth things out.

1.

Let it all hang out, girl! Turn the shower on in your bathroom with the water on the hottest setting. Close the bathroom door to let steam accumulate while you place your chiffon clothing on a hanger. Hang the item on the bathroom door for 10 minutes or so and the wrinkles should be gone.

2.

Treat stubborn wrinkles with a handheld steamer. Handheld garment steamers are readily available online and in most stores that carry home goods. Plus, they are lightweight, easy to pack for traveling and provide wrinkle-eliminating steam that's perfect for soft fabrics. "Good Housekeeping" rated some of the best handheld steamers, all under $100 and user-friendly. To steam garments, hang them on a hanger on a hook or rod. Fill the reservoir with water, plug the unit in and wait for a few minutes until the steamer is hot. Lightly hold the bottom of the garment with one hand and run the steamer over the clothing, holding it about two inches from the chiffon. Work in small sections, beginning at the top and working your way down until you finish the first side. Flip the chiffon garment around to repeat on the other side.

3.

Blow wrinkles right out of the chiffon using a hair dryer. Lay the chiffon out flat on your bed or hang it on a hanger. Hold the hair dryer approximately two inches away from chiffon and turn it on, using low to medium heat. Turn that bad boy on and blow until the wrinkles disappear. Just be careful to avoid touching the chiffon with the hot blow dryer since intense heat can compromise the fabric.

4.

Take it to the cleaners! If all else fails -- or if you have delicate silk chiffon that you are nervous about damaging – take the garment to the dry cleaners. Professionals can remove stains or deep wrinkles without stretching or wrecking your favorite chiffon garment.

Tips & Tricks

Use your washer and dryer to take those wrinkles right out! Clothing made from polyester chiffon is machine washable. After washing the item, place in the dryer on low heat for 10 minutes, remove promptly and smooth lightly by hand. Air-dry flat or on a drying rack. If you've noticed a stray wrinkle on a clean piece of clothing, place it in the dryer with a clean, damp, lint-free cloth. Tumble on low for 5 to 10 minutes and voila! The end result should be wrinkle-free without any special tools or extra work.

Avoid spritzing water onto dry chiffon -- it will leave spots.
