Clinique makeup products are synonymous with the white-coated makeup artists. With vast product lines of mineral and traditional makeup products for skin, eyes, lips, brows and cheeks, Clinique makeup contains a variety of ingredients designed to be skin-friendly.
Mineral Makeups
Clinique launched its own mineral makeup product line that includes products such as Redness Solutions Instant Relief Mineral Powder. This mineral powder contains natural extracts such as magnolia bark, mushroom extract and grapefruit peel to soothe inflamed skin and relieve redness. Minerals such as calcium, magnesium, sodium and potassium also are added to soak up the extra oil on your skin -- no shiny foreheads here.
Acne-Fighting Ingredients
Clinique’s acne solutions product line contains active ingredients to help banish breakouts. For example, Clinique’s Acne Solutions Liquid Makeup is a liquid foundation that contains salicylic acid, which helps to exfoliate pimple-inducing dead skin cells and break up sticky oil plugs.
Antioxidants
While you can't seem them, there are tiny particles called free radicals, floating around in the air and your body that can cause damage that leads to premature aging. Clinique makes a moderate- to full-coverage foundation called Clinique Even Better Makeup. The product contains an SPF 15 and features the free-radical fighting antioxidant vitamin C, which also helps to brighten dull skin tones.
SPF-Protecting
Clinique makeup products that contain sunscreens have zinc oxide and titanium dioxide added to them to deflect the sun’s rays. Also known as physical sunblocks, titanium dioxide and zinc oxide are broad-spectrum sunscreens, meaning they fight both ultraviolet-A rays (the ones that age you) and ultraviolet-B rays (the ones that burn you).
What You Won’t Find
While Clinique is often looking for new ingredients to improve skin texture and tone, there are a few ingredients you won’t find in Clinique products. This includes fragrances, which can irritate your skin and cause potential allergic reactions. This means Clinique eye shadow, mascara, lipstick and foundations are fragrance-free and shouldn’t irritate your skin.
