Every gal should own at least one tote bag that is big enough to carry all her essentials. Perfect for work, college or a shopping trip, a cute tote bag is a must-have for any woman who likes to carry more than just her phone and cash. If your bag collection is growing, it can be difficult to know how to store your gorgeous totes. Resist the urge to throw them to the back of your closet, which can be damaging, and put your tote bags on display instead.
Stick Them on a Shelf
Think of your oh-so-chic tote bags as works of art. Just because your bags aren’t stored in your closet, doesn’t mean they need to look like they’re cluttering up your space. Display them on a shelf in your bedroom as a practical and pretty way of showing off your seriously stylish accessories. Display several on one long shelf, or use several carefully placed smaller shelves for a cool, quirky effect. Large bags can look saggy and lifeless when they’re not filled to the brim, so stuff them with non-acid tissue paper or bubble wrap to help them stay in shape. Don’t use paper to pad out your bags as this will encourage moths. Yuk!
Hang Them on a Hook
Sure, hooks are great for hanging your jackets on, but they're good for other hanging jobs too. Attach hooks in a random pattern on one wall and hang your tote bags from them -- what a novel way to show off your favorite bags. If your prefer to keep the look more tidy, use a straight row of hooks for a neat, organized look.
Pepper Them Around Your Pad
Add a dose of fun and personality to your room by hanging your tote bags in different spots around your room. Pick two or three of your favorite bags -- hang one over the back of a chair, on the corner of a mirror or on a coat stand. You may not be able to carry all of your beloved tote bags around at the same time, but you can admire them together on display. Your tote bags will add a splash of character to any dull corner of your room. Remember: sometimes less is more, so don’t hang your entire collection around the room ... you'll get a sloppy look instead of a stylish one.
Consider the Color
Think about what color can do when thinking about how to displaying your tote bags. Add a coordinating colored scarf or vintage brooch to some of your bags to bring them to life. A bright red tote on a small shelf next to a red painting or single red flower will give your tote bag an artistic purpose and make it part of the decor. If you have a variety of different colored bags, display some of the most vibrant and clashing shades together to create an exciting explosion of color in your room.
