If you dream of having luminous and glowing skin like J.Lo, but are stuck with dry and itchy skin instead, you're likely looking for an effective remedy. A savvy girl like yourself probably knows spending money buying moisturizers is a waste of time, since you can nix that dry skin with items you probably already have at home.
Get Your Oil On
Oil typically hydrates parched skin better than moisturizers can. For this reason, rubbing on some of the soothing stuff can relive the itch and send the dry skin packing. Olive and baby oil both work, as does grapeseed oil. The trick is to lather it on when your skin is moist, like when you step the out of the shower or bath. The oil helps lock that moisture in, leaving you with skin that's soft and smooth.
Oatmeal can calm your irritated skin and get it under control. Simply pour a cup of uncooked oatmeal into your bath water. Slip in and soak for as long as is comfortable. The oatmeal releases its soothing properties into the water and works its magic on you while you relax.
Milk does your body good, and it also helps with dry, itchy skin. Soaking in the white stuff can soothe your angry skin and add some moisture as well. Pour about a cup of milk into your bathtub and then get your soak on. The lactic acid in the milk encourages the dry skin to take a hike and can prevent it from coming back.
If your face feels dry and itchy, enlist the help of a banana. A banana face mask calms down irritated skin and is easy to make. Simply mix 1/4 of a ripe, smashed banana, 1/2 cup of natural yogurt and 1 tsp. of honey with a fork. Smear the mixture on your face and rinse if off after about 10 minutes. Your face should feel nourished, smooth and soft afterwards.
