If you're looking to get a little more eco-friendly, or if you just like new DIY projects, try making your own face blush. It might sound like a lot of work, but it's actually a cinch to concoct your own blush.
What You'll Need
To whip up your face blush, you'll need to go out and get 1/4 cup beet powder -- make it yourself or look for it at a specialty grocery store -- 1/4 cup chopped strawberries and 1/2 teaspoon of olive oil.
Making Your Blush
Making your blush is actually easier than going out and finding the ingredients to pull it off. Just dump everything into a blender and mix it until smooth. Now, pour the blended product into your little glass container and you're all set. To apply, just dip your finger into the blush and smear onto cheeks.
Making Beet Powder
For those ladies that are real go-getters, making your own beet powder isn't so tough either. You won't be able to pull it off unless you have a dehydrator though, so the recipe isn't for everyone. Slice beets thinly, place them on your dehydrator screen and set the dehydrator to 100 degrees Fahrenheit, letting the beets sit for eight to 10 hours. When beets are dry, crumble them with your hands, put them in a coffee grinder and blend until they've formed a powder.
Your blush doesn't just have to be a blush. Because it'll be in more of a liquid form, try using it as a lip stain, too. And, if you don't like a more liquid cheek stain, just use your dehydrated beets as is, as a powder blush. Put your powder in a glass jar and apply with a brush just like you would with a store-bought loose powder blush.
