Being trendy can make you feel so totally cool in the moment. But 25 years from now, you may regret some of your absolutely on-trend fashion and beauty choices. While that's fine for everyday looks, you don't want to feel the need to hide or burn your wedding photos in a couple of decades. The answer is to capture classic Hollywood glamour on your wedding day. It's a style you won't mind putting on prominent display for years to come.
Let It Flow
It's tempting to feel that any classic look requires an up-do, but you can achieve a Hollywood-inspired look with your hair down. All you need are two essential ingredients: a side part and curls. Pin or corkscrew curls are great, but gentle waves work, too. What makes them classic is that these curls are always polished -- this is no place for bed-head in Hollywood style.
Wear It Up
For the bride who just wants her hair up and out of the way -- to better enjoy the dance floor and that rocking band you shelled out for -- an up-do is refined and elegant. A chignon is simple and classic, but to amp up the glamour, incorporate the same two essentials: a side-part and curls. Keep the curls around the nape of your neck and away from the crown of your head. Wear the pony, bun or mass of curls slightly to the side so that it can be seen just a bit from the front.
Dramatic Eyes
A glamorous, Hollywood-inspired wedding is the perfect time to get dramatic with eyes -- not so dramatic you could be at a nightclub, though. A little black, winged eyeliner and tasteful false lashes will go a long, long way. Avoid smoky eyes or any other eye makeup that will run and get messy if you cry or sweat. Enlist a makeup artist to help you pick the best products. If you're doing your own makeup, give the full routine a test run before the big day. Putting on makeup in your bathroom at home is great practice, but you won't know how well it holds up until you try it in the outside world.
Ruby Red Lips
High-impact red lips are a must when it comes to Hollywood glamour. Go beyond fire engine red and choose the red hue that works best for you. For warm skin tones, this means an orange or coral tone. For cool skin, look for purple influences in your red. True red looks great on all skin tones, but if you're nervous about creating too much drama, choose a lipstick that's sheer or has some shine. This will soften the look, while a matte lipstick is a "look at me" choice.
