Latin women are saucy and sexy, and their hair is typically dark, thick and shiny. You lucky ladies! As a lovely Latina, you need the right hairstyle to show off your stunning strands and you certainly have a lot of options. It doesn't matter if you're going to a swanky soiree or just heading out with the girls; there are lots of chic, stylish hairstyles you can try.

Loose Waves

Loose waves look so sultry and hot in your thick Latino hair. For a loosely waved style that will have heads turning, part your hair down the center and use a small-barrel curling iron to create tight ringlets all around your head. Use a paddle brush over your curls to break them up and turn them into bouncy, loose waves. Scrunch up lightly on your hair with one hand and spritz over your locks with hairspray using the other.

Big Curls

Big curls look bouncy and voluminous in your dark, thick hair. Since your hair is thick, work in sections to curl it. Leave 1/3 of your hair down around the bottom and clip the rest up on your head so it's out of the way. Use a large-barrel curling iron to curl around the bottom section of hair. Let down half of the clipped-up hair and curl it the same way. Add curls around the top section and finish with a light misting of hairspray.

Ballerina Bun

With your thick hair, you can rock a ballerina bun that's full of body, never boring. Rake your hair together into a high ponytail at the crown of your head. Secure it with an elastic. Backcomb the top few inches of hair in your ponytail -- this is what gives you the mega-volume in your bun -- and wrap the hair clockwise around the elastic. Tuck the ends in under the bun and slide a couple of bobby pins in to hold it in place.

French Twist

A classic French twist style works for the most elegant occasions. In your thick, dark hair it looks posh and sophisticated. Start by making a far side part, then pull your hair together at the back of your head. Hold the hair in a ponytail at the nape of your neck and wind it around to create a twist. Press the twist against the back of your head vertically and tuck the ends down into the side of the twist. Use a couple of bobby pins along the side of the twist to hold it in place.

Keep your lovely hair healthy and shiny with the right hair care products. Use a gentle, nourishing shampoo that's formulated for thick hair, and always condition afterward. Add a deep conditioner into the mix too, once every couple of weeks. Hot oil treatments and color glazes help keep your hair lush, radiant and shiny. Avoid chemical treatments, such as coloring, and frequent washing -- keep shampoo sessions to a maximum of four times a week -- to prevent dryness and damage.
