Take your look to the next level with just a few elastic bands in your next hairstyle. This doesn't mean sporting a boring, basic ponytail. There are many fantastic things you can do with your hair and an elastic band or two that will look totally fashionable and right on trend.
Edgy Chignon
Chignons are usually thought to be chic and refined, so instead of working an expected bun look, switch it up with this edgy style. Just pull your hair into a ponytail, securing it with an elastic band. Then twist all of it into a bun, leaving the last two to three inches of hair hanging free. Use another elastic band to tie your bun into place. Your remaining hair will splay out, showing off your ends, creating a slightly unfinished look that's sure to turn heads.
Pumped-Up Ponytail
Make your ponytail a little bit sexy by adding volume to your tresses. Start by curling your hair in sections using a one-inch curling iron. Then create a deep side part, sweep your hair to the side and tease your hair at the crown of the head. Smooth it back with a brush and pull it into a ponytail. Add a little hairspray to keep your look intact and you're all set.
Half Braid
This look takes just two elastic bands and is a simple way to make your style instantly more creative. Just pull your hair into a high ponytail, then braid it about one-third of the way down. Secure your braid with an elastic band right where it stops and let the other two-thirds of your hair hang free. This look won't work if you have shorter hair, so make sure yours hangs at least a couple of inches past your shoulders.
Partial Updo
If you're looking for a pretty and romantic 'do, this is the look for you. Start by curling your hair into soft ringlets, using a large or medium-barrel curling iron. Hold the iron vertically, switching the direction of the curl each time to make the style look more natural. Pull back the top section of your hair into a ponytail. Twist your pony into a bun shape and secure it with bobby pins.
