As a brunette, there's no better way to lighten and brighten up your look than by getting some highlights. Even just a few blond highlights framing your face or scattered randomly around your head will make a big difference. Once you've got the highlights in your hair, of course you'll want to show them off, and that means styling your hair right.

Down Straight

One of the best ways to show off highlights, regardless of how many you have, is by wearing your hair down straight. Any highlights on top or underneath will show through, so blow dry your hair, then finish with a flat iron and some shine serum to really wow. You can add some waves or curl to the ends of your hair with a curling iron, but keep the length straight so you can really show off your highlights in all their glory.

Half-Up

Putting your hair into a half-up 'do is an easy way to show off highlighted hair. Pull up a section of hair at the top of your head and pull it toward the back of your head. Slide some bobby pins in over the hair around the crown of your head to secure it in place. To see your highlights best, straighten over the loose hair with a flat iron to make all those highlights show through.

Tucked Pony

A tucked-in pony is a unique-looking style, but don't worry, it's really easy to do. Pull your hair back into a ponytail, getting rid of any part, and secure it with a hair elastic, leaving just an inch-thick section of hair out at the bottom. Wrap the hair you left out around the base of the ponytail and slide a bobby pin over the ends to keep the hair in place. Pull the ends of the ponytail hair up towards the base of your ponytail and add more bobbies to hold the hair. Finish with a generous misting of hair spray.

Braided Bun

A braided bun is a easy-to-style 'do that works for more formal occasions. Pull your hair back into a high ponytail at the crown of your head, wrap a hair elastic around the hair and then braid down the ponytail hair, securing with another elastic -- preferably clear or the same color as your hair. Wrap the braid around the base of your ponytail and secure it in place with a couple of bobby pins.

Sleek Ponytail

A sleek ponytail is a simple style that shows off highlights all around your head. Smooth a bit of hair gel onto your hair, pulling it back with your hands to make a ponytail. Keep the ponytail higher up at the back of your head, but not too high -- no higher than the crown of your head, to avoid looking childish.
