There’s nothing more horrifying than having dull hair. OK, maybe there are worse things in the world, but dull hair must be on the list somewhere. Don’t worry, colored-hair divas, there are products you can use to bring life back into your locks.
Clarifying Shampoo
Shampoo can do so much for your tresses, and it can even bring life back into it. Orlando’s Mosaic Hair Studio owner Mike van den Abbeel says that a good place to start is with a clarifying shampoo. These shampoos help remove any buildup and mineral deposits that are usually the culprits of dull hair. His favorite is the Kuene’s Clarifying Shampoo because it’s color safe and can remove excess buildup or mineral deposits -- a great solution for those who like to take dips in the pool once in a while.
Stronger Solution
Sometimes a simple shampoo can’t fix all your problems. Abbeel recommends going to a stylist for a stronger clarifying treatment. He says that this is a great idea for swimmers, because the salon treatment can really get in there and get rid of the icky residue left behind by pool chemicals and mineral deposits. Abbeel’s favorite salon treatment is Malibu’s treatment.
Color Enhancing
If buildup isn’t the problem and you color looks dull, don’t fret ladies, there’s a solution for you, too. Abbeel says there are temporary color shampoos and foams that can be applied daily to add some super shine and luster back into your tresses. If you’re a bombshell blonde with hair turning a strange hue of yellow, Abbeel recommends Shimmering Lights. For brilliant brunettes and radiant redheads, Abbeel loves Kuene’s color mousse. It’s used just like a hair mousse, but adds color back into the hair.
Tint Shampoo
If salon visits and mousses aren’t your thing, you can stick to shampoos that will enhance and help save your color from fading and looking dull. Mizu New York salon stylist Miguel Angarita says that the best way to maintain the freshness and vibrancy of your color is by using shampoos and conditioners that have a color tint in them. His favorites include Bumble and Bumble Color Support and Davines Color Enhancing Organic Refresher. He says that these products add a hue of dye to hair in a quick and easy step that can be done at home while washing your hair. Another tip Angarita gives is going to the salon whenever possible to have a color gloss applied to your hair, to help keep your color looking sharp.
