Pump up the volume to loud and lovely with a few simple tricks that can make your hair come alive. Where you part your hair can have a huge effect on your style and the way your hair behaves. Use your part strategically for high-volume, big-body styles.
Switch It Up
When your hair needs some "oomph," it could just be that it’s in a rut. Just like people who can use a little shake-up to inject extra energy, your hair might respond to a change, too. If you always part your hair down the middle, switch to a part on either side. If you always part your hair on one side, switch to the other side or make a part down the center of your head.
Nix the Part
Ditch the part altogether for another volumizing tactic. This might involve teasing the hair over the top of your head for extra body and lift. Another way to avoid parting your hair is to just let curls fall where they may over the top of your head. This option tends to work best with shorter layers that have either natural or chemically induced curls.
Deep Side
When you make a deep part on either side, you give your hair lots of room for volume across the top of your head. Hint: figure out which side your hair "wants" to part on and try making a part on the opposite side instead. Do this by shaking your head and finger-combing your hair until it parts naturally. This is where your hair naturally parts itself, so make the part on the other side.
Styling the Part
Root volumizers can be the key to pumped-up hair. Spray this magic product liberally into the roots of your hair on both sides of the part. Grab the blow dryer (outfitted with a diffuser) and a paddle brush and start directing medium heat onto the roots of your hair while pulling sections straight out with the brush. Keep going until your hair is dry. Your mane should be showing fierce lift coming up from the part.
