Summer heat can be drying for your tresses, even when that heat is combined with humidity. If you're looking for a way to keep your coif moisturized in hot, humid weather, you'll be happy to know that there are tons of types of hair moisturizers that fit the bill.
Smoothing Creams
If your hair is prone to frizz, try a smoothing cream. it will hydrate your locks and keep them from frizzing up in that hot, sticky weather. You can find smoothing creams at beauty supply stores and drugstores. There are some that work on damp hair and others for dry hair, so use it as a conditioner after washing or apply it to hair as needed through the day.
Sprays
If styling creams are too heavy for you, try a spray. Anti-humidity sprays work in about the same way that styling creams do, except they go on lighter. They are ideal if your hair easily gets weighed down. Spritz a bit on your hair in the morning to give it all-day protection or try it before rolling hair to keep curls sleek.
Conditioner
During the summer months, switch out your conditioner for a deep conditioning treatment that's built to lock in moisture and reduce frizz. Deep conditioners really quench your hair, so it's not necessary to use yours every wash. Instead, use once per week or every other week as needed.
Leave-In Conditioner
Leave-in conditioners make your hair shiny and protect it from the frizz that comes along on those humid days. Leave-in conditioners can also be fantastic for women with naturally curly hair. They can detangle your locks and define your curl pattern while keeping that pesky frizz at bay. Look for a leave-in whose first ingredient is water to make sure you're really hydrating your hair.
