Finding the perfect underwear and swimwear can be a challenge. But it is important to find a style that not only fits properly but is also comfortable. You want an item that is made out of a nice material and looks good too. With patience, you can track down the perfect fit that will give you the comfort you deserve.
Body Type
Your body type makes a huge difference in the search for which underwear and swimwear will fit you. Do some research and figure out what body type you have, then go from there to purchase something flattering for your body type. What looks good on one person may not on someone else. "Fitness Magazine" suggests, for example, that ladies with pear-shaped bodies look for V-necks and high-cut bottoms. If you have a petite frame, look for a swim suit that has adjustable features. For hourglass body types, look for something in a bold print that doesn't overpowering your frame and complements your curves.
Comfort and Size
Purchasing a comfortable swimsuit or underwear is very important. You don’t want to be at a water park worrying about your top flying off. Even if you are just at home, you want to be comfortable. So try a few on and make sure you have the correct size and fit. Shop for different underwear for various activities.
Style
Style can make a huge difference in the fit of your swimsuit or underwear. You want the top to stay in place, and also look flattering. For example, "Glamour" magazine suggests, “If you’re athletic … a ring-top bandeau flatters.” The bottom of a swimsuit or underwear is important, too. You have the choice of a thong, boy-short, brief or bikini. Make sure the bottom covers the area and is flexible with your movement. For working out, "Women’s Health Magazine" suggests that a low-cut brief provides extreme comfort and will not bunch up. If you have junk in the trunk, "Fitness Magazine" suggests swimsuits in solid colors with molded cups to give lift and volume to your top. This will help slim your butt and add more oomph to your top. A one-piece swimsuit with cutouts is a great way to show some skin but still cover up. It works well for most body types.
Material
Some materials of underwear or swimwear can be scratchy or hot. You don’t want to sacrifice comfort for style. For swimwear, make sure the elasticity is sufficient. You don’t want a sagging bottom when you hit the beach! The fibers in synthetic fabrics can irritate sensitive skin and in some cases cause yeast infections, so it is best to opt for something that allows for optimal circulation. The Swimwear and Lingerie website suggests that cotton may be the healthiest choice, because it is a hypoallergenic fabric and allows for air circulation. Always opt for a fit that is not too tight -- even in cotton, an overly tight fit can lead to yeast infections, due to lack of circulation and airflow. Synthetics do have their advantages, however, particularly for working out. A nylon-spandex fabric blend can help keep the sweat off of skin and dries quickly. You can also look for new high-tech fabrics that incorporate antimicrobial treatments -- these work over time to fend off odors, making them great for working out.
