Grunge is perhaps known as a look that features flannel and greasy hair --- not exactly sexy. However, you can take inspiration from the grunge era and work some of its finer points into your look. For instance, that dirty 'do style did have a certain stylish component to it that can look hot and won't require neglecting the cleanliness of your coif. With a little work and help from styling tools you may already have, you can rock a sexy grunge-inspired look sans the grease.

1.

Wash your hair with shampoo and conditioner. Hair often looks best when it's clean and shiny, and the grunge style is no exception. Towel-dry your hair until it's damp.

2.

Pour a dollop of heat-activated texturizer in the palm of your hand and rub your mitts together. Run your hands through your hair to give it a piecey look that is consistent with the grunge style. Texturizer often gives hair a wave, which goes along well with this type of style.

3.

Use a blow-dryer on your hair until it is almost dry. Avoid drying it all the way, as doing so will make your hair look more polished than it should.

4.

Allow your hair to air-dry the rest of the way. Letting nature take its course with your hair often gives it a wavy and natural, less-than-perfect appearance.

5.

Incorporate a few small braids into your 'do to give yourself a grungy, boho feel. You could also don a knit cap over your coif to achieve the authentic grunge look.

Tips & Tricks

For a more sexy grunge look, get your glam on with a pair of skinny jeans, a cute pair of boots and a form-fitting flannel shirt --- be sure to leave a few of the top buttons undone.
