When your flowing tresses start to turn an ashy grey, your first reaction may be to throw some dye on your head, STAT. The truth is that you're aging, just like everyone else, so why not hold your head high and own your lovely grey locks? Both Nicole Kidman and Kate Moss have been spotted out and about with their natural grey hair showing, so why not do the same? If you've been dying your hair and your grey roots are starting to take over your head, let them go. Follow a few easy tips to make the process a smooth transition.
Try a new do while growing out your grey hair to hide the transition between your roots and the rest of your hair. Hit the drugstore and pick up a slew of bobby pins, barrettes and headbands to help you out. Play with trying new updos that hide your roots and make your new grey locks less obvious.
Purchase a sexy new silk scarf or two. Look for pretty patterns to brighten your look while covering up your grey roots as they come in. Tying a scarf around your head can give you a chic new look and offer you a break from styling, which is perfect for those bad hair days.
Take care of your new grey hair as it's growing in. Look for shampoos and conditioners at the beauty supply store that are designed to keep grey hair looking shiny and beautiful. Drop in to see your favorite stylist and ask if she has any recommendations when it comes to products for grey hair.
Promote healthy hair growth as your new locks come in. Try giving yourself a scalp massage when you wash your hair to stimulate blood flow and get more nutrients to your scalp, which may help your hair grow faster. If you take a daily vitamin anyway, switch to a pill that contains antioxidants and B vitamins to help make your new hair stronger as it grows.
Chop it all off. It's a gutsy move, but if you want a head full of grey hair faster, a drastically shorter cut will get you there pronto. If you go this route, be sure you're emotionally ready for the change, then jump in and be ready to love your brand-new look.
