Curvy girls and ladies with athletic legs can find flattering jeans in a number of styles. Certain styles help elongate legs, while providing extra room for shapely calves and thighs. Opt for jeans in a dark wash -- darker colors are slimming -- with some added stretch for comfort.
Skinny Jeans
Skinny jeans aren't just for super-skinny girls. If you have shapely thighs or calves, opt for a pair of stretchy skinny jeans in a dark wash -- they generally have some stretch to accommodate curves. If you're comfortable with a low-rise, choose a pair of skinny jeans with a low-rise waist. Make sure the hem of your skinny jeans hits the top of your shoes, as this elongates the leg.
Boot Cut
Boot-cut jeans have a bit of flare--this balances the leg and provides room for athletic calves. Boot-cut jeans come in a variety of rises, so choose a rise that you're comfortable in. Opt for a pair with added stretch -- jeans with stretch are typically 98-percent denim and 2 percent Spandex -- in a dark wash.
Trousers and Flares
Trouser-style jeans are flattering on gals with larger legs because, like boot cut jeans, they provide balance. Flared jeans do the same, and both styles come in a variety of rises. Although boot cut jeans flare out slightly at the hem, flares are more akin to bell bottoms. If you like the boho look, opt for a pair of flares in a dark wash.
Washes
Gals with bigger legs should stick to dark wash and solid tone jeans; dark indigo and black jeans are flattering and have a slimming effect. Avoid light washes and whiskering details. Jeans with whiskering and jeans with purposely faded thighs can draw attention to problem areas -- if you don't want to draw attention to your thigh area, avoid them.
