If you've ever felt like every dress you try on looks bad on you, it's probably because they're not the right dresses. All it takes is learning which styles flatter your shape. There are fantastic, totally ideal dresses out there for everyone. The key is learning exactly which ones make your body look its best.
If you don't have enough curves, fake it 'til you make it. The best way to pull this off is by adding a belt. Belted dresses accentuate your curves and give you more shape. Also try dresses that are draped or ruched, which is going to give you the illusion of having more curves. Make sure you stick to more-fitted styles. Super-flowy dresses may hide your boyish frame instead of accentuating what you've got.
If you've got a tiny frame, you'll want to give your body the illusion of length. Your best option is to show off your fabulous legs in a daring mini. Since your legs will be exposed, opt for dresses that are more conservative on top so you're not showing too much skin. Add a fab pair of high heels to the equation and your look is complete.
If you've got wider hips, empire waist dresses look fab on you. They'll show off your fantastic top half while minimizing your bottom. Any fuller skirt will do here, so if you're not an empire-waist kind of girl, don't worry. The best part about wearing a fuller skirt is a lot of times you can go down a size. Since you're not worrying about fitting your wider bottom half, lots of ladies lose a whole size just in this simple little trick.
Pear-shaped girls look amazing in A-line dresses. Whether you're rocking a sexy, strappy frock, a halter or strapless option, you're sure to look fab. Make your shape even more appealing by focusing attention on your shoulders and legs. Do this by finding a dress that has an interesting print or color just in those sections. Or just go for a fun minidress instead.
If you're a plus-sized lady, you'll love a wrap dress. They can actually create a fabulous looking waist, giving your gorgeous curves even more definition. Try dresses to show off your decolletage if you want to go a bit sexier. We've all heard that dark colors slim you. That doesn't mean you have to wear black. Instead opt for pretty, rich plums, navies and jewel-toned greens.
