Whether you tried to apply too many layers of mascara or your mascara is just old, sometimes clumps of mascara form on your eyelashes, leaving you looking clownish rather than chic. What's worse is when the clumpy mascara gets on your cheeks when you blink. With a couple tools and the proper technique, say goodbye to mascara clumps forever and go practice batting those lashes.
1.
Drag the sides of the mascara wand across the top of the tube to get any excess mascara off the wand after you've dipped it into the tube. Extra mascara causes those unfabulous clumps in the first place.
2.
Apply your mascara as you normally would, twirling the wand as you brush it on your lashes.
3.
Wipe the mascara off the wand using a damp paper towel. You'll need a clean brush to wipe away those clumps.
4.
Place the mascara wand on top of your lashes, starting near the eyelid, and twirl the brush outward against your lashes to sweep away clumps and separate lashes.
5.
Repeat the process for as many layers of mascara as you want.
If you don't want to clean off the mascara wand every time you use it to clean off clumps, buy a second wand for this purpose from a cosmetics store.
Don't use a tissue to clean off the mascara wand, or you'll get tissue flakes in your mascara.
