If your eye makeup seems to smudge and smear before you're ready to take it off, try adding an eye primer to the mix. Primers give your eyeshadow and eye liner a smooth surface to stick to, keeping your makeup in place for much longer. If you have oily lids, you'll want an eye primer that works for your skin type. The good news is, finding one isn't as tough as you might think.
Go Oil-Free
Since your lids are naturally oily, you'll want a primer that not only sops up the oil that's already there but also keeps it at bay all day long. Oil-free primers are perfect in accomplishing the task. Your makeup won't slide or smear, so you can enjoy your flawless look without dealing with greasy lids.
Mattifying Creams
If you want a primer alternative, try a mattifying cream. A favorite beauty solution of Glamour magazine editors, mattifying creams are meant to soak up oils on the face, but they work just as well on your lids. Just apply them carefully around your eyes. Since the product isn't made for eyelids, you'll want to make sure not to get any in your eyes.
Don't Overdo It
Even if you have oily lids, there's no need to pile on the primer. The great thing about eye primer is that a little goes a long way, so usually just a little dab is all you'll need. Make sure to read package instructions to determine exact application protocol based on the brand that you're using.
Keeping It in Place
If you're still worried that just primer isn't enough, snag a box of blotting sheets. Blotting sheets absorb oil on the skin without messing up your makeup. They usually come in tiny containers that can easily fit into the smallest handbag. Just press one to your lids as needed. When used in combination with your eye primer, your makeup look will be good to go.
