Admit it, you're a high-maintenance lady with a pocketbook that's telling you to work with what you've got. Open your mind to some "new to you" solutions in kitchens all over the world. Beauty really does begin on the inside, so what goes in determines how you look on the outside. The most basic foods offer awesome benefits for the hair and skin. Water, avocados and eggs are just a few.
Eggs have all the right ingredients to make your hair glow. They're high in protein, sulphur content, minerals and vitamin B12. Beneficial to the hair, skin and nails, eggs promote a healthier you. Think of it as healthy maintenance in your daily routine.
Inside or Outside?
It doesn't matter if they're scrambled, boiled or sunny side up, the end result is the same. Your hair in particular will grow faster and be shinier. You can also apply the whites directly to your hair to give it an even glossier bounce. Bacteria-eating enzymes in the eggs remove unnecessary oils, so don't be afraid of masks containing natural oils.
Hair Mask Recipe: Hair Over Easy
You need two to four egg whites, depending on the thickness and length of your hair, and 1 to 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Crack the eggs in a bowl, separating the whites from the yolks. Whisk the egg whites until they begin to fluff. Add the olive oil and stir until well mixed. Apply to freshly washed hair, leave on for 20 minutes and rinse with cool/cold water. If you use hot water, you end up with breakfast instead of shiny hair.
Be careful when you handle raw eggs. You do not want to catch salmonella trying to be frugal. Use an anti-bacterial soap to wash your hands, the surface and utensils thoroughly. Egg residue tends to linger so pay close attention when you're rinsing.
