When you've got on a hot little number, putting your hair up helps to show off your outfit and draw more attention to your face. Gathering your hair in the perfect up 'do isn't mandatory; there's some dress styles that work just fine no matter how your hair is styled. But with some dresses, you'll find just changing your hair from down to up can make the dress look completely different and make you look amazing.

Strapless

Wearing a strapless dress of any kind is the most common and opportune time for you to topple your locks on your head. No matter if it's a casual party dress or a sweetheart neckline evening gown, wearing your hair up will show off your features such as your collarbones, neck and face perfectly. Allow a few loose hairs to drape around your hairline and keep the rest in a messy up 'do style. Secure your hair with a hair accessory appropriate for the style of dress you're wearing such as a rhinestone clip for a formal dress.

Halter Dress

A halter dress has fabric that ties or fits around the back of your neck and exposes a bit of your back and cleavage. Depending on the designer, you may be showing off all of your goods where there is a deep V-neckline, as well as an open back dipping far below your waist at the rear. With a dress of this style, wear your hair pulled up and back to one side in a tousled bun or ponytail. Add simple accessories that will not compete with the drama of your dress.

One Shoulder

One-shoulder dresses have cropped back up in fashion, making them a popular choice when you know you want to wear your hair up. You can choose a low-hanging ponytail to the side or for a dress with embellishments on the shoulder, such as ruffles, or pull your hair in a sleek bun. Slick your hair at the crown of your head and tie into a tight bun. Positioning the hair on top of your head and taut helps to keep the focus on your dress' asymmetrical style.

Off the Shoulder

A simple, flirty off-the-shoulder dress is a great way to tease your on-lookers, giving them just a peek at your sexy silhouette. Pull your hair back off of your face, leaving some of your mane hanging down at your shoulders. This half-up, half-down style will draw attention directly to your face and shoulders. Add a wide waistband belt to cinch in your waist, giving your entire look a bit of balance.
