1.
Skip the extreme high heels if you’re not completely skilled in walking in them. While heels can look great, teetering around on a pair that are too high can make you look uncomfortable. Plus, falling down on your fanny won’t make the impression that you want. Choose heels that are easy to walk in, encourage good posture and won’t cause blisters by the end of the night.
2.
Leave the workout clothes at the gym, especially if you've just been exercising. Wearing workout clothes to get together with your significant other’s co-workers can come across like no effort was put into dressing for an important meeting. If you’re actually meeting them right after exercising, you may appear sweaty and sloppy. Give yourself enough time to change and look presentable.
3.
Dress appropriately for the meeting location. If the introductions will take place at a restaurant, contact the restaurant to find out the dress code beforehand. If meeting at a more casual place, such as a bar, opt for jeans and a stylish top.
4.
Nix the revealing clothing. You want to make the best impression you can, and wearing clothing that shows too much may draw attention where you'd rather it not be focused.
5.
Wear clothes in which you’re completely comfortable. If you’re tugging at your clothes because they’re hot and itchy or too tight, the co-workers are going to notice you're feeling uncomfortable and awkward. Opt for an outfit that you’ve worn before that you know flatters you. If you feel good in what you’re wearing, it will show.
Before stepping out of the house, ask your significant other if the outfit is appropriate. Your SO knows the people you're meeting and probably the place where you will meet, and should have a good idea whether your outfit will raise any eyebrows.
