If you have a short torso, you'll know it because your waist and hips are high, usually higher than half of your total height. You're also probably more likely to gain weight around your tummy or on the back of your hips. But while this can make picking out clothes frustrating, there are some style tips that will help you elongate your waist and look taller and slimmer.
1.
Find ways to accent your bottom half. Pick out light-colored pants and skirts and look for skirts or dresses with a flare or an A-line style.
2.
Find A-line dresses or those with a straight line. These styles emphasize a narrow top and make the waist look longer and leaner.
3.
Wear low-rise or flared pants and jeans to help draw the eye down and away from the waist.
4.
Avoid clothes that cinch in at the waist or are too tight around the tummy. Flowing tops and dresses are going to look more flattering.
5.
Don't wear thick belts or high waistbands. Instead of making the waist look longer, it will only draw the eye to the short torso.
