Of course you want to dress to impress on any date, especially if it's a first date. After all, your goal -- as long as you don't end up finding you can't stand the person -- is to score a second date, and that's only going to happen if you look your best. Hey, that's not hard, but there are a few key colors to consider if you want to really make a lasting impression.
Red
Red is the color of love, it's the hue of passion and romance, so of course it's only fitting you'd make this your color of choice for a first date. Even if you're actually wishing Cupid would stick his arrow through your head halfway through the date, at least you tried and looked the part. Opt for a strapless red dress to keep it simple and show some skin, or create contrast and layer a red dress under a black leather jacket to stun your lucky date.
Black
Black is a color that works well on all gals, and it's a color that is not only seductive, but that is also slimming. You can opt for a black tank dress if you're going somewhere more casual, or really strut your stuff in your favorite little black dress and some sky-high heels. Now that will really knock a first date off his feet.
Pink
Pink is a really feminine color and although it's not for everyone, it's a nice hue to wear for a first date. It creates a more feminine look and works in both casual and formal dresses. You don't have to go all-out with a solid pink shade either; a pink and white striped sundress is retro-inspired and girly, while a gorgeous fitted black dress with blocks of pink is the perfect mix of mature and fun.
Purple
Purple is a romantic, mystical color, and first dates are all about romance and mystery so it seems only fitting. An off-the-shoulder purple maxi dress with some bohemian style jewelry is the perfect laid-back look if you're walking on the beach or going for a stroll downtown to eat lunch at a little cafe, while a sultry, shorter purple dress is fitting for a more elegant first-date plan.
