If you have naturally curly hair, chances are you deal with frizz on a daily basis. African American hair that is kinky, wavy or curly needs special care to ward off the frizzies. It starts with proper drying -- a diffuser is your secret weapon to keep curls defined and frizz-free. These funnel-shaped devices snap onto your blow dryer and spread out the heat so that curls aren't blown apart. The result is defined, pretty curls.

1.

Blot your clean, wet hair with a towel. Never rub or wring your hair as this will cause your curls to separate and become frizzy.

2.

Mist your hair with leave-in conditioner then gently comb through with the wide-toothed comb. Start at the tips then gently work your way up.

3.

Flip your head upside down and let your hair fall into the cup of the diffuser.

4.

Turn on the blow dryer then lift your hair up toward your scalp. Lifting the hair up coaxes the curls. Hold the dryer on your hair for 30 seconds then release the hair and move to a new section.

5.

Let the hair pile in the diffuser then lift it up to your scalp. Hold for 30 seconds then repeat for another area. Continue moving through your hair, lifting and holding until it's completely dried.

6.

Check out your head of gorgeous curls.
