When it comes to fashion, it's all about grabbing inspiration when it strikes you. That's why you just had to have another little black dress: you just felt the connection. If inspiration strikes in the form of an insanely beautiful scarf, forcing you to take it to the counter and buy it, you might bring it home and wonder, "Now what?" Luckily, there are lots of cool and trendy ways to wear a square scarf.

On Your Head

Square scarves on your head are the perfect accompaniment to a beachy or chic city look. If your hair is down and flowing under the scarf, it looks boho casual and so summery, like you've just come from strolling on the beach. However, if your hair is pulled back or tucked under and you pair the scarf with an oversized pair of sunglasses, you can look Upper West Side glamorous in an instant. To tie a scarf on your head, fold the scarf in half by grabbing one corner and bringing it all the way to the far corner to form a triangle. Place the straight side of the triangle along your forehead and tie the ends together in the back. Voila!

On Your Neck

With the right posture and amount of confidence, a scarf tied around your neck can look upscale and European classic instead of Palm Beach grandmother, i.e. not the look you were going for. If you want to look sophisticated instead of ready for a hoe-down, wear a neck scarf with a dressy outfit, like a pair of nice pants and a short-sleeved cardigan instead of a pair of jeans. To tie a square scarf around your neck, fold it in half to form a triangle. Wrap the two ends around the back of your neck and tie in place. If the ends are extra long, make a little bow for a cute added touch.

In Your Belt Loops

For a cute and somewhat quirky look, scrunch up your scarf and run it through a few of your belt loops. Choose loops that are slightly off-center and grab the ends of the scarf that are sticking out. Tie them together to form a bow or a hanging knot. This look works well if the scarf is brightly colored or patterned and your outfit is pretty plain. The scarf adds some pizzazz in the middle, brightening up your look and making it unique.

On Your Bag

Hey, bags like to be accessorized just as much as people do. That's why they make all those adorable bag charms that serve no purpose but glamming up your little shoulder companion. If your outfit is ready to go and looking perfect, but your bag has yet to be dressed up, tie a pretty scarf on to the shoulder straps of your purse. This is a genius way to incorporate a cool scarf without messing up your outfit, and it brings an old bag back to life, too.
