Every fashionista worth her style salt knows that heels are sooo not just for dressy attire. These days, you can wear heels with just about anything, from slacks and mini-skirts to sweatpants. Yup, that's right, we said it: sweats and heels. There are so many different ways to wear heels without making them look dressy, that you'd have a shorter list coming up with ways to actually make your heels look formal and dressy.
Go Low
If you want to slide on a pair of heels without looking like you are on your way to a big meeting or the school dance, then go low and chunky with your heel choice. Nothing says casually chic like a pair of chunky heeled clogs paired with denim capris and a brightly-colored tunic top. Finish up the look with a beret and simple silver jewelry, and you are ready to rock your heels in perfect casual style while you lunch with friends or run errands.
Make Heels the Star
When you are attempting to be dressy, then your heels compete for attention with a fabulous dress. If you don't want to look dressy, go low-key on the rest of your look and play-up your fabulous heels. Think a pair of red alligator-skin stilettos paired with a simple white T-shirt and a pair of dark denim skinny jeans. The result? Definitely not dressy, but very super sexy.
Boot Up
If you are wearing a fabulous frock, but don't want to pair the usual stilettos or strappy sandals, go with a pair of super high heeled boots. Good example of this pairing? A devastatingly simple but sexy sundress with a wide-brimmed straw hat and pair of knee high brown leather boots with a huge chunky heel. Wrap up the look with chunky gold jewelry and you are ready for whatever comes your way.
Sweat it Out
Okay, we know there are those of you out there that wouldn't be caught dead in anything less than three inches, even if you are rocking your favorite Juicy sweatpants. So work the look well, with a pair of 3-inch pumps, a fitted pair of sweatpants and a sultry cropped tee. Pull your hair up in a messy bun and slide on silver hoop earrings to finish up this casual yet stylish ensemble.
