Perk up long, layered locks with glamorous, playful or sporty hairstyles. Layers add fullness and body to hair. Choose a style based on your mood or personality. The right tools and techniques play an essential role in creating the beauty of a hairstyle. Have fun and bring out the "hair diva" in you.

Defined Waves

Old Hollywood has taken over in this layered style with defined waves. This look is best for long hair that is layered mostly at the ends. Give dry hair a center part and use a 1-inch barrel curling iron to bend the hair under. Pull the iron out gently and let the hair cool for about 10 to 15 minutes. Use a round brush to smooth out the curls. Take your fingertips and pile the curls on top of each other for added body. Let Hollywood glamor come to life with this hairstyle.

Rolled Sides

Look sporty with long, loose layers cut at the same length. Blow dry the hair and make a center part. Stylists create loose curls by using an iron with a 2 1/2-inch barrel. After the hair is curled, use a small-tooth comb to lift a 2-inch section of the hair on each side of the head. Twist the hair on each side, using your fingers. Gather the twisted hair from both sides together and fasten them with a clear mini elastic or one that matches your hair color. This hairstyle is great for hanging out with friends, or running weekend errands.

Flipped

Bring out your playful side with this flipped 'do. Have a professional cut a bang and layers starting at the bottom of the ear. Use a flat iron to create flips at the sides. Style side-swept bangs by twisting the wrist outward and rolling a round brush through the hair. You can rock this playful hairstyle at any party.

Sideswept

It's layers and curls swept to one side. Long hair can be layered in small pieces near the front of the face and longer pieces going down. Use a flat brush and blow dry the hair. Once the hair is dry, curl strands with a medium-sized iron. Section the hair and clamp the iron down. Roll the iron upward towards the root to create the curly waves. Once curled, let the hair cool for 10 minutes. Use the fingers to bring small strands down toward the face. Pin the hair to the side using embellished bobby pins, clips or a faux flower. You are now ready for a night on the town.
