Don't feel like washing your tresses? No problem. Just whip your hair into a style that's perfect for second-day hair. Yup, there are actually some styles that look great -- if not better -- on hair the day after it's been washed; so set your shampoo down for a day, and learn a few cute looks perfect for the second day.
Fishtail Braid
Fishtail braids are totally trendy but they're a little tougher to pull off than the conventional braid -- they use four sections of hair instead of just three. That means that freshly washed, and therefore, more slippery hair, is actually harder to work into this more-complicated braid.
Ponytail
Sure, ponytails will work on just-washed hair, but they need more of a touch up, especially if you have layered hair. Second-day hair has a bit more oil in it that it helps to bind hair, so when you pull it into your ponytail, it's less likely for pieces to slip out during the day. Otherwise, you'd have to apply some sort of styling gel to keep your locks in place. Skip this step, and just try it on second-day hair instead.
Bedhead Waves
Most people have to add a spritz of dry shampoo to make their hair look a little separated and second-day-ish to get their bedhead waves in check. With your second-day hair, you're already ahead of the game. Just take a large barrel-curling iron and curl your hair in sections. Then use your hands to loosen curls, or give your coif a good shake, and you're all set.
Undone Chignon
An intentionally messy chignon is incredibly chic. Get yours by simple twisting your hair into a bun shape and securing it with bobby pins. Since the idea is for your hair to look messy, second-day hair is the perfect addition. Take your bedhead waves and twist them into a bun for a curly look, or work your hair into a chignon as is.
