Overview
A side bun -- or chignon; both words mean the same thing -- looks really chic and fashionable. It's an effortlessly chic look that takes only minutes -- yep, minutes -- to do and works for casual and elegant occasions. Even if you have short hair, as long as you've got a couple inches of hair to work with you can get the side bun style.
1.
Brush through your hair to get rid of any tangles.
2.
Part your hair to the side.
3.
Pull your hair together on the side opposite your part -- this creates a more balanced overall look -- holding it in a ponytail shape with one hand.
4.
Wind the hair around to create a twist and form the hair into a bun against your head.
5.
Slide bobby pins in around the outside of the bun to hold it in place.
6.
Insert additional bobby pins along the sides to hold the shorter pieces in place, making them lay flat against your head.
7.
Mist over your hair with hairspray to create a firm hold and make your style last all day.
To finish off your side bun style, add a headband or hair clip.
To build up a bit of volume in your hair, tease around the crown of your head before styling it.
