If your hair reaches your shoulders, you’ve got enough length to create a variety of updos. If you mix it up a little and opt for an unsymmetrical style, you might be surprised at the glamor factor. Create the side bun on medium hair, slicking your hair off to the side with romantic style. This soft ‘do can be perfect for both work and play.

1.

Squeeze a dollop of styling mousse into your hand and apply the mousse to your dry hair to add control to your tresses.

2.

Brush your hair thoroughly to remove tangles.

3.

Grasp the hair behind one ear in your fingers and start twisting it along your scalp. Keep twisting and adding more hair as you work your way across the back of your head. When you reach your other ear, gather all of your hair into a ponytail behind your ear and secure it with an elastic band.

4.

Coil your hair loosely around the base of the ponytail to make a bun. Depending on your hair length, you may not have much to coil, but try to make it into as big a bun as possible.

5.

Insert bobby pins around the outside edges of the bun to hold it in place. Use as many bobby pins as necessary to secure the bun tightly and keep it snug.

6.

Pull a few tendrils of hair out to create a soft look around the edges. Add hair clips along the back of your head, if you have stragglers that want to escape the twist.

7.

Spritz your side bun lightly with hairspray, focusing the spray along the sides to prevent fly-aways.
