Braids can come in tons of different styles. If you want to go a little edgy, get creative and combine your punk style with cornrows. There are plenty of ways to rock a braided, punk style -- all of which are cute, stylish and sure to make you stand out.
Cornrowed Faux-Hawk
Working your cornrows into a faux-hawk really ups the edgy factor. What's best, there are tons of ways to rock the style. Cornrow the sides of your straight up to the crown, or get more creative and cornrow them up in a design like a zig-zag. Braid the hair at the crown, too, if you like, or leave it hanging free to sport two different textures.
Buzzed and Braided
If you want to take your cornrow-punk look a step further, try adding a buzz cut. This, of course, is much less temporary than just braiding your hair into a faux-hawk so make sure you're willing to commit. You'll basically have an actual mohawk, and just cornrow the center section of hair back to complete the look. The style also works with unbraided hair so feel free to switch it up.
Off-Center
If you don't want to cornrow all your hair up, go a little off center and try one cornrow on the side. Create a deep side part. Start cornrowing hair long the smaller side of the part starting at the hairline and working your way to the nape of the neck. Secure with bobby pins. Leave the rest of your hair hanging free.
Haphazard Cornrows
Your mother probably told you to stay inside the lines, but sometimes breaking the rules can be a good thing. Instead of braiding your cornrows straight back, make them more edgy and punk by haphazardly braiding them. You can do this in any way that you want. The crazier you make the braid the more it will stand out.
