Taupe is one of those colors that's a lot more versatile than you might think. Because it's basically a neutral, it looks fab with tons of different shades. So, if you're lucky enough to have a cute little taupe number, you've got lots of matching options from all-over neutral looks to ones that are a bit more unexpected.
Taupe and Denim
Add a little denim to your taupe. If you're wearing a taupe top, try jeans or a denim skirt or shorts. For taupe pants or skirts, a denim jacket looks fab. There are also lots of super cute denim tops and blouses that are totally on trend, so don't be scared to wear your denim on top. Try mixing yours with soft blushes and nudes to keep the palette simple and muted.
Taupe and black are close enough to being opposites that they make for a dramatic canvas when paired. Try a black top with a taupe bottom or use black to accent a taupe dress. Try black pumps, a black clutch and even work in some black jewelry to really offset your lighter shade.
Try your taupe with gold. This can go either way, so rock a gold shoe to offset your taupe frock, skirt or top, or slip on a taupe shoe to go with a shimmery gold outfit. Try suede taupe pumps with a matte gold dress, or one that has slight gold accents throughout. If you're wearing a taupe dress that's a bit simple, shiny gold heels spice it up instantly.
Add a Little Color
You don't have to keep your taupe look neutral. Add a piece in a rich color to make your look more interesting. Think burnt oranges, rich reds and saffrons to perfectly complement your taupe piece. You can wear these in accessories such as shoes and handbags or mix them more into your outfit. Try a taupe top with an orange skirt, for instance. The orange against the taupe is sure to pop in the best possible way.
