Always the bridesmaid, never the bride, but you still want to look fantastic at the wedding. There's an endless rainbow of colors to choose from, and it can get difficult to decide what looks good with your smooth milk chocolate complexion. Brown skin has a healthy glow you have to show off, and you want a shade that won't "ash" you out. According to Pantone's report on 2011 fall color trends, rich bold color is being paired with a variety of neutrals to balance any complexion. Now don't take all the attention away from the bride, but go to the wedding and knock 'em dead!
Reds
Look to the fall leaves for color inspiration. Candy-apple red won't work for this season; step up your color game and try on some dresses in burgundies and burnt oranges. You can stay in the same color family and try on something magenta, or hot pink if you're feeling risky. These colors are sexy, so don't be surprised if the groomsmen are all on your trail, or tail.
Greens
Green is good in certain shades this season. Instead of a muted, organic green, go for a teal green version instead. If you can find a "jewel" teal that has a slight pearlized/metallic look to it, try it on. You may be surprised how stunning you are.
Blues
Purple and electric blue will definitely turn some heads on the right woman. They both pop when laid against your beautiful chocolate backdrop. These colors traditionally represent royalty, and you're always the princess of the party no matter whose party it may be.
Metallics
Girl, you can never go wrong with metallics either. Harvest gold, silver and bronze are all contenders for the wedding wardrobe. However, stay away from feathers, sequins, glitter, rhinestones or anything glitzy that can take attention away from the bride. If the wedding has some sort of theme, take that into consideration and use it for inspiration while shopping for something to wear. Make the shopping day "your big day."
