Yellow is a fun, bright color that can liven up even the dullest look. Take a look in your closet and find all of your yellow pieces. How often do you wear them? If the answer is "not that often," ask yourself if it's because you just don't know how to wear the shade. Yellow can be a toughie but it's definitely not impossible to wear. You just have to find its most complementary colors.
Black
Black and yellow might seem like a stark contrast, and it is, but that's exactly what makes it so great. Wearing a bright shade with black really makes your color pop and totally stand out. It can also be slimming. So, if you don't love your bottom half, slip on a black skirt and pair it with a bright yellow top. It'll draw attention upward to your favorite assets and cover ones that you don't love so much.
Metallics
Metallic accents are a fab way to make your yellow look shimmery and pretty. During the warmer months, try pairing a yellow sundress with gold flat sandals and pretty gold jewelry. This works just as well with silver. Or, make your yellow look more fancy with metallic pumps or high-heeled strappy sandals.
Other Neutrals
Neutrals paired with brights look incredibly chic. This color combination is totally on trend so feel free to mix your yellow with nudes, tans and grays. Wear your yellow as a pop of color on an otherwise neutral canvas -- think a bright yellow clutch, belt or shoes worn with a tan dress -- or switch it up and use your neutral accents as a subtle way to ground your brighter shade.
Brights
Speaking of trends, try another fun one by mixing your yellow with other bright colors. Go bold with shades like hot pink, turquoise and bright orange. Wear your yellow with one bright shade or go big and mix a few color together. If you're a little timid about pulling this off, try looking at a color wheel. Pair your yellow with any color that is complementary to the shade. You don't have to pair your yellow with just bright colors. Try yellow with more toned-down shade like navy for a mix of bright and rich colors.
