There’s nothing like a light blue dress to make you feel feminine and sexy at the same time. The color looks great on most skin tones and works for each season, but, of course, during the winter or fall you may need to don some tights along with it. Don’t think of this as a hindrance -- though tights certainly aren’t the most comfortable wardrobe addition -- but instead think of pantyhose as a fashion accessory that can add value to your ensemble. Whether you choose subtle or bold, you can rock tights with your dress and look great.
Black tights come in all levels of sheer, from legging-esque opacity to very see-through and all will look superb with your light blue dress. For serious leg-slimming action, go with an opaque pair, which will minimize any lumps and bumps and elongate your gams. If you want some more texture in your life, try a black lacey or striped black pair, which will be more visually interesting than solid.
Gray tights are a great neutral alternative to black but will work really well with your blue dress too. They will stun in any opacity and look cute with texture and patterns. A great way to really stay warm and look fashionable during the cold is to wear a pair of gray wool tights with your light blue dress. This will add lots of texture to your look and be season appropriate.
Play up your love of blue by donning a monochromatic ensemble of all blue. The way to do this fashionably, according to fashion experts at Who What Wear, is to choose varying hues of the same color and create a stylish nuance to your outfit. So, try wearing blue tights (and blue shoes and a blue jacket) with your dress, but don’t match your colors exactly. Instead try dark blue tights, or a shade even lighter than your dress.
Tights with patterns and prints look great with solid-colored dresses. Choose a pair that has more than one color. For example a polka-dot pair with navy and gray would look cheeky and chic. If you are feeling bold, play around with brighter-hued patterns that have bright pink or purple in them, for example. As long as you keep the rest of your outfit simple, you can pull off brighter tights, no sweat.
