Purple is a gorgeous color that in all its varying hues looks good on women everywhere. This is why it makes a killer dress color, and though you could easily rock it on its own, in the cooler weather you’ll need to add some stockings to the mix. This is not a curse, but a fashion blessing, as you can liven up your outfit by going bright or you can simply complement it and add a chic layer with a subtly colored tight.
A classic black stocking is a never-fail choice when wearing a purple dress, or any dress for that matter. If you choose a totally opaque pair, you’ll maximize your leg elongation and streamline those gams, slimming them instantly. Of course, if you’d like some actual leg to peep through, choose a sheerer pair of hose or ones with an embroidered pattern on them. Go with a lacey look, a striped print or even fishnets will do the trick.
A less predictable but very neutral stocking color is gray. Purple and gray look flawless together and regardless of how opaque your tights are, this will give you a mod, fashionable look. Play around with the texture of your stockings and buy wool tights or polka dot ones in this neutral hue.
Pink or Turquoise
If you’re a color-blocking type of gal, go big and bold with a pair of bright color tights. Fashion experts at Who What Wear love pink and turquoise stockings and recommend pairing them with other hues and patterns. Though at first a purple-pink or purple-turquoise outfit may seem extreme, it can totally be done fashionably by anchoring your look with neutral accessories and of course wearing it all with confidence.
Purple dress? Purple stockings! Go monochromatic with your dress and tights. Pull off a highly sophisticated all-purple look by combining varying shades of the same color. The key here is not to match your textures and colors exactly, as this will look too intentional. Instead, pick a lighter or darker purple tight than your dress and even go with a purple shoe in a totally different texture.
