Who doesn't have that go-to black dress that is all purpose for every occasion -- from a hot date to night out with the girls? Black is sleek and sophisticated; even better, there is so much you can do with it. Black dresses demand colorful accessories, sexy shoes and attention to detail, so your look is well put together. With that in mind, choose a hosiery color that accentuates the shape of your amazing legs.
Depending on the occasion and the type of shoe, go nude with your stockings and let your dress do all the talking. Seemingly nude legs put the focus back where it belongs -- on your fabulous black dress. Pair your stockings with a super high pair of teeter-tottering heels, preferably in your favorite bright hue and add a colorful scarf for a touch of something different. If you want extra definition, cinch your waist with a funky belt.
Black stockings under a black dress screams sexy, especially if you choose a pair with a seam up the back. Take your look to the next level with a pair of black fishnets, but make sure the dress is playful enough to accommodate this particular look. It may seem as though black under black is too much, but this monochromatic look is actually very streamlined and big-city sophistication. If there is no seam around the toe, you can wear open-toed shoes with your black hosiery.
If yours is a playful black sundress or a frilly-skirted frock, choose stockings that are equally as playful. Funky yellow or racing red are great colors set off by black on top; you can also go more extreme with neon pink or bright blue, depending on just how much attention you want to draw to the lower half of your body. Go with black on top and in your shoes if you choose a brightly colored stocking.
If you have a super-light skin tone and want to add just a hue of color, choose a light pink. Pink is demure, which adds a whole new element of style and sex appeal to your outfit. This gives your legs some pizazz and helps them to stand out just a bit, while keeping the focus on you in that black dress. Make sure they are very pale and the pink appears ever so slightly -- otherwise, you might end up looking like a ballerina.
