Sometimes picking a color of slacks to go with a green shirt can be a little tricky.

One somewhat unusual yet striking color for a shirt is green. According to color theory, green represents nature as well as prosperity or money. It comes in shades ranging from the deepest forest green to money green to light teal. When you wear a green shirt, balance it with a neutral color of slacks.

One of the best and most basic colors of slacks to wear with a green shirt of any hue is black. Even a dark forest-green top pops next to the darker black color on bottom. If you don't want to wear black slacks, a deep gray or even a medium-hued gray color works just as well.

Another possible color to wear for slacks with a green shirt is a pair of tan khakis. Khakis are a shade of brown, so it goes naturally with an earthy green color. You can either wear a pair of plain cotton khakis or loose rayon slacks in a khaki color with your green top.

White is another pants color that fits with a green shirt. A crisp bright white pair of pants draws attention on its own, but also accentuates and brings out the green hue of your top. For a simple casual look, wear bright-white linen slacks with your green shirt. Throw on a pair of white heels or sandals and you've got a perfect, comfy spring outfit.

Colors to Avoid

Avoid colors that are too bright to wear with a green shirt. Too much color can kill the outfit. For instance, red or bright yellow is a bit too much color with a bright green shirt --- unless, of course, you're planning on working for the circus that day! Also, avoid wearing another green color for your slacks with the green shirt. Even if you find an exact match, an all- green outfit is just boring.
