During many seasons, you're just floating along in pure bliss in a mix of neutrals and your usual favorite colors. Sometimes, however, a new trendy hue like teal bursts onto the scene and knocks you back a few feet. You may love the color, but have no idea how to blend it into your wardrobe. Shake off that fear and awaken your internal fashionista -- teal is super versatile and you can rock it! Really ... you'll be amazed.
When you've found a beautiful teal piece of clothing, the immediate desire is to throw it on with reckless abandon. But you may immediately realize that your closet is full of neutrals and soft tones -- this should work, but when you're not used to vivid color, you're just not! Take a breather -- this one is pretty impossible to mess up. Add very soft neutrals like light grays, light browns and nudes to your ensemble. Think light gray tank, teal skirt, light brown hobo bag and strappy nude sandals. Lovely.
When you're looking into a jewelry case full of blue-green tourmaline and aquamarine stones, they're often surrounded by other jewels and set in silver, gold or platinum. Take inspiration from the idea of a cocktail ring full of other precious stones. Oh, and this is a great time to try out some color blocking. Think teal, gold, amethyst and emerald. Translate these jewel tones into your look and you'll feel just as luxurious. Imagine deep teal skinny jeans with a purple racerback tank. Stack some chunky gold and green bangles up your arm and you're there.
You know when you carry your shopping bag out of the boutique that your teal accessory is a strong one -- you'll find something to go with it, but ... what? Tone down the intensity of your teal purchase with ever-feminine blush tones. The contrast will enhance the softness of your dress and will allow your teal accessory to pop. Try out a silky, blush-hued T-shirt dress with a pair of nude flats. Grab on to a teal clutch an revel in visual bliss.
The only thing easier than pairing earthy toned neutrals with teal clothing is adding black. Black clothes and accessories will never fail you, so don't shrug them off now! Especially when you've decided to take the plunge into allover teal -- think feminine midi dress -- the last thing you want is for anything to compete with your luxe color show. Throw a black handbag over your shoulder and slide into some black flats or pumps for a posh finish.
