If you're not totally up on the changing rules of fashion, navy tights might seem almost impossible to pull off. But the ban on navy and black together has been lifted. And not being able to mix up color? The color blocking trend defies that old rule. Sit tight, and take in some shoe color information to inspire the navy-legged girl inside of you.
Black
Unless you're strutting down the hallways of Conde Nast for your day job, you should stick to black shoes with your navy legwear at the office. That doesn't mean you have to wear boring square-toed pumps. Try suede or studded leather with a healthy platform. Pair your navy leggings with a chic pencil skirt, and tuck in a silk button-up top. Don't forget to wear a camisole underneath; silk can be transparent under bright office lights.
Brown
When you're skipping about town on your Saturday errands, you want to look cute, right? You don't always want to sport your destroyed boyfriend jeans. Some days you feel like wearing a girly day dress. Pair your navy tights with something light and airy, then pull on a pair of brown riding boots and a schoolboy blazer. Feel free to flirt with the cutie in line at the grocery store.
Warm Citrus
OK, so when it comes to going out at night, a punch of color is fun, stylish and playful -- basically everything a single girl wants to convey on the dance floor. The next time you're putting on your favorite little black dress, add a pair of navy tights. Remember those orange chunky sandals you bought last year on a whim at a sample sale? The ones that don't "match" anything? Put those on, too. Matchy-matchy is out. Wild card style is in.
Jewel Tones
One more set of colors that will look smashing with navy is deep, regal jewel tones. Think plum, emerald and topaz. Wear them in a sexy satin pump or a sleek suede sandal. Put on a pair of leather shorts, navy pants and a dove gray top. Party the night away. After all, girls just want to have fun.
