Whether it's bright lime, pale pastel mint or dusky sage, a light green tone is soothing, cooling and outdoorsy. A light green dress is a spring-erific choice for a May wedding or formal dance. Yes, that includes prom. Embrace your inner garden pixie and choose shoes that play to this fresh and natural vibe, or pick a more playful, unexpected color to make your look pop.
Perhaps the best shoe color choice for a light green dress is white. This combination works especially well for outdoor weddings and other formal occasions. Ivory, another neutral, also works. White and green together feels very fresh and springlike -- dare we say minty fresh?
Brown and Tan
Brown is technically a neutral, but it plays particularly well with green, bringing a much-needed warmth and upping that lush natural vibe. Seek out deep chocolate hues and shoes with wood accents. A shoe in camel and tan is an understated choice that keeps the focus squarely on your dress.
Yellow and Gold
The warmth of yellow and gold plays well with the coolness of green. A pair of gold sandals looks glam with a mint- or lime-colored dress, and it also works with the duskier shades of light green such as sage. Pair bright yellow shoes with similarly bright shades of green, like apple.
Green's traditional complementary color is red, but wear red and green together and you risk looking like a Christmas tree. However, a sage or olive dress plus a pair of dark brick red shoes can't be beat for eye appeal.
According to the traditional color wheel, fuchsia is the true direct complement to light green. Fuchsia-colored shoes can be hard to find, but they have a close relative -- pink. Pink shoes plus a light green dress equals playful and almost childlike -- not always a bad thing. Skip this look if it's a formal occasion, but otherwise it's a winner.
