Sometimes it just feels great and super fashionable to wear a plain black shirt with your jeans. There are so many wonderful combinations of this mix, but the fact remains that simplicity often is the best style magic. One of the perks of a simple outfit is total freedom in terms of your shoe color and, with black and denim, you can’t go wrong with brights, neutrals or just plain fun kicks.
Black
Every girl’s best shoe-friend, the black pump, flat, boot, etc., is a perfect option for your black shirt and jeans. Go casual for a day of shopping with ballet flats or dress your look up majorly with sky-high black stilettos or platform pumps. There really is no black shoe that can’t complete this look, so choose your favorite pair and rock it.
Animal Print
Hadley Freeman, fashion expert at “The Guardian” notes that you can absolutely wear animal print, especially if the rest of your outfit is plain. That’s why leopard, zebra or a giraffe print will work effortlessly with your basic black shirt and jeans. If you’re seeking a small wow factor, this a perfect way to do it as you’ll add texture and visual interest to your look.
Red
Ah, the red shoe. This is a look that screams "fashionable vixen" while not being over the top. If you’re in the mood to inject a pop of color, but want to remain seriously classy and chic, try a red pump, ankle boot, flat or sandal.
Neon
“Teen Vogue” notes that the key to pulling off neon is to pair it with a collection of neutrals. So get electrically bold and wear a neon shoe with your black shirt and jeans, both of which are neutral, and thus the perfect combination to add major color to. Try yellow, orange, pink, purple or blue and make a shoe statement. Just be sure to keep the neon at your feet and nowhere else.
Another Bold Color
Have a sweet pair of green suede pumps, or a gorgeous set of dark purple flats sitting in your closet? Wear them. Black goes with just about anything and your jeans do too, so if you have a favorite color and it comes in a shoe, you can wear it. Go with navy blue, yellow, pink, orange or any other color in the rainbow.
Metallic
Bring on the bling with a metallic shoe in gold, silver, bronze or gunmetal. Black and denim both go with just about any metallic hue, so choose your favorite and enjoy the sparkle. A good rule of thumb when wearing metallics is to stick to only one within your ensemble so you’re not clashing. If you choose to wear jewelry, stick to the same shade as your shoes.
