What Color Shoes Should I Wear With My Light Pink Flowery Dress?

Should you sport your light pink dress with a pair of similarly light pink shoes? Or is it better to counter that light and airy effect with a darker shade? Don't fret -- there are plenty of different shoe shades to complement your dress, and at least one you might not expect.

Nice and Natural

Try grounding all that airy, flowery goodness with a rich tawny brown. Try tan or fawn; these rich (but not too heavy) shades of brown will bring your dress down to earth for a more modern look, without completely canceling out the flirty, feminine quality of the dress.

Bad-Girl Black

Your ultra-girly light pink dress could never work with black shoes, you say? Au contraire, mademoiselle -- it can be done. It all comes down to the other accessories you choose; choose a tough-girl belt in black along with some strappy black heels or platform pumps, and throw in a black clutch, and you'll take your dress from soft to sexy in no time.

Not So Red-iculous

Remember the old rule that said you shouldn't wear pink with red? Well, forget about it; we all know fashion rules are meant to be broken. Pink is just a lighter shade of red; a bold shade of red, such as cherry or scarlet, will intensify your pink dress, not clash with it.

Gorgeous in Green

What better guide could there be for color coordination than Mother Nature herself? Just think: Where are you likely to see a pale shade of pink just popping out of the ground? A flower! And what is that flower attached to? A lovely green stem. Emulate the great outdoors with a soft, mossy shade of green to complement your light pink dress.
